Shiatsu

"Touch comes before sight, before speech. It is the first language, and the last, and it always tells the truth."

About Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a Japanese word that means “finger pressure”, which is one of the ways the therapist contacts the body to release tension and blocked energy.

It is a non-invasive manual therapy based on the Japanese and Chinese Medicine that have as fundamental concept the Qi, the vital energy that flows in the body and its systems.

The Qi reaches every area of the body through special energetic "tunnels" called meridians. The vital points, where the Qi is more expressed and where it also can be stuck, are situated within the meridians.

An out-of-balance Qi or an obstructed vital energy flow can appear through peculiar symptoms in the body. Regular colds and flus, periodic headaches, digestive difficulties, body aches and muscular pain, tiredness and lack of sleep are some sign of the Qi imbalance. Shiatsu works harmonising the Qi throughout the body and for this reason has both preventative and remedial effects.

The therapist stimulates with different levels of pressure, called acupressure, the vital points and the related meridians in order to restore a good flow of the Qi and, therefore, a proper balance of the bodily energy and health.

It is advisable to do periodic Shaitsu treatment in order to facilitate a good circulation of vital energy and to maintain the results already obtained so to have a constant balance of the Qi.

During the Shiatsu Complete Treatment we will talk about your present complaints, your past problems, your medical history and how this therapy can help you.

After you've comfortably laid down, I will start the massage along specific meridians and vital points according to your needs. The massage shouldn't be painful, you should feel the right amount of pressure and you can also lead me through the massage which level of pressure you prefer. It is extremely essential you keep breathing throughout the therapy in order to favour your relaxation and therefore a better flow of the Qi.

At the end of the whole treatment, we will discuss about your experience and your body reactions and responses.

We can also plan together the most suitable treatment plan for you in order to find the most efficient solution for your problems.
